1. Qualifications

Elders shall be men who are able and desire to serve God by teaching and leading His people. Men whose lives meet and show consistent growth in all the Scriptural requirements set forth in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9, and men who have made a positive affirmation and acceptance of the Statement of Faith (Article II), and the Constitution and by-laws of BCCC. They must have been members of BCCC in good standing for at least one year.

2. Authority

The ministry of BCCC is under the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ by means of a plurality of Elders (The Council of Elders) who function under the authority of the Scriptures and support of the church body and are the decision making body of the church (Hebrews 13:17; I Peter 5:1-3; I Timothy 5:17). Decisions made by the Elders will be based on Scriptural insight, the individual and corporate leading by the Holy Spirit, carefully assembled facts, and the solicited consensus of body members. Consensus of the church membership shall be solicited primarily by personal involvement with the members and by other means such as the Sunday bulletin, newsletters, pulpit announcements, group and congregational meetings or by informational ballot (see Article IV, Government).

The Council of Elders will consist of a minimum of five (5) Elders and be expanded to have one Elder for every thirty church members as the church grows.

The Elders must seek and find the mind of Christ and come to unanimous agreement before deciding matters of church business (Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 2:1-4). Any decision that directly affects a current Elder will not require the agreement of that Elder, i.e. determining the salary of the Senior Pastor or in matters of discipline…”
God bless you!
